I want to put my condolences out to our family friend, Paul, back home. His mom passed away, so please keep him and his family in your prayers. Paul, although I never met your mom, I guarantee she was a great woman! She raised a wonderful son, who has a great family! I hope Hamilton's took good care of you! If not, you let me know and I'll take care of it! ;) I used to work there! (For those who didn't know)
So, it's Monday. Everyone seems kind of slow going today. Maybe it's from all of the Super Bowl mayhem! I feel like the city is kind of quiet today. It could be, or it could be that the wind is blowing so hard and there are so many sirens going off, you can't really hear anything else! ;) Speaking of weather...what's up with this storm I've been hearing about? We were suppose to get snow last week. Didn't happen. Now, they're saying we're suppose to get a huge storm mid-week. I'll believe it when I see it. When I do, I'll gladly admit I'm wrong. But we'll see. I don't want snow! I hate snow! I've seen enough this year! It's not as much as Iowa has seen, but enough for me!
At work tonight, a lady comes up to me and says, "Has anyone ever told you, you look like the actress from The Big Bang Theory?" I have never heard that before. What do you think? The actress is Kaley Cuoco. I don't see it. What's so funny, is her personality on the show, is somewhat similar to mine! Hehe!
I got an e-mail today from Daily Candy. It's a great website! They tell me about this new restaurant in town. It's all about meatball sandwiches! Oh my goodness! Those are my favorite kind of sandwiches--besides Jason's Deli chicken salad! I'm so excited to try this place! Check out their website! It's called, The Meatball Shop. Easy enough. ;) Yum!!!!
So, the movie "Valentine's Day" comes out this week! I cannot wait to see it! The cast is huge and it looks so cute! It's expensive to go to the movies here! So, I have to be choosy on what I pay to see. I'm not a big movie-goer as it is, so for me to spend twelve bucks on a movie, is a big deal. But if I sign up to be a member at the movie theatre, I get $1 candy on Monday and $1 popcorn on Tuesdays! That's exciting! Nothing beats movie theatre popcorn with extra butter! I know it sounds weird, but Sour Patch Kids are the best candy to pair with popcorn! Trust me! I've had people try it, and they love it! Second best is peanut M&Ms! But I recommend Sour Patch Kids. You get the sweet, sour, and salty mix! Fantastic!
Well, I have a big day tomorrow, so I'm going to go to bed! Goodnight! ;)
Note to self: Sometimes you have to have a "whatever" attitude. If you just shrug your shoulders and think to yourself, if it happens. It happens. If it doesn't. Well, then. Whatever. For some reason, this is when life always works out for you. Is it because you're more relaxed; therefore, you're acting more like yourself? I don't know. I got some good advice from my dad tonight. He tells me to just look at a situation like it's not the end of the world, so whatever happens, happens. He says, "Stop trying to control things you can't control." Very true. There's only so much you can do--if it's your best and you believe it is, then that's it. Believe in yourself, have confidence in yourself, and just go for it! What do you have to lose? Nothing. So, why not? Dad's are so smart! ;)
I love sweets! Sweet treats, sweet deals and sweet ideas for decorating is what I enjoy the most. Check out my ideas for great parties with friends, sugary recipes and great deals I have found to create a fresh and fun home!

Day 157
February 7, 2010
YAY SAINTS!!!! Woop! Woop! I knew they would win!!! It's a good day in my neighborhood! Did you see the game? They did great!!!! And did you see the end when Drew Brees was holding his son, crying?? Oh my goodness! So sweet! Real men know how to cry! So precious! ;) Watch the video!
I must say, the commercials were just okay. Only one really stood out to me! Watch this! So dang funny! For three million bucks a pop, you would think they would be a little more entertaining. Not so much! I'm so disappointed in Bud and Bud Light's commercials. I expected more from you and you let me down!
The party was a success! I made two different dips and people devoured them! I'm becoming a better cook by the day! Okay, actually the chip dip was Chef Greg's concoction--I just added the sour cream! But I made this Snicker salad--Cool Whip, cream cheese, Snickers, and Granny Smith apples! Yum-O! Everyone's reaction: "I've never tasted anything like it!" I reply with, "Yeah, it's an Iowa thing!" It really isn't, but I recommend you make it! It's delicious! The guys made chicken wings and chili, which both tasted amazing!!!! I am stuffed!
When I get home, I turn on my television and the end of the Titanic is on. The part where Rose is trying to wake up Jack, as he wades in the freezing cold water, dead. God, it's so sad! Can you even imagine having to go through something like that?? Letting the love of your life go and sink to the bottom of the ocean? No way! I wouldn't let it happen. Listen to this quote I grabbed from the end, "A woman's heart is a deep ocean of secrets." Awesome, huh?
I agree whole-heartedly with this statement. There is so much a woman never shares, yet so much she has to offer. We are full of secrets that we will never reveal. I got an email a while back and I would like to share with you some lines from it! It's amazing! It's titled, "One Flaw in Women."
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy, and laugh when they are nervous.
They don't take "no" for an answer, when they believe there is a better solution.
They love unconditionally.
They are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have the compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give.
If there is one flaw in women, it's that they forget their worth.
To all of the fabulous women in my life--family, friends, colleagues, loved ones--I want to thank you for being this strong woman and I appreciate the impact each of you have made on my life. Women are a powerful force and without us, I'm sorry men, but I don't know what you would do! And I know all of you men know this! ;) As much as you want to disagree, you need us! To help you, love you, pick up after you, cook for you, be there morally for you! But you know what? We do it with love and pride, because the men in our lives mean more to us than we would ever be able to express! ;)
So, I called my mom today and asked her if she liked the engagement ring I picked out. Her response, "Honey, good luck trying to find a man who would spend $21,000 on a ring." Yea, yea, I know. Then, when I tried to explain to her the "life long investment" story, she wasn't really buying into it. She agreed it's gorgeous, though! I would like to justify and explain my outlandish wish for my wedding ring someday! I'm just saying that I like the style--I'm not one of those girls who likes the typical one stone setting on a band with diamonds around it. I want something different. Something no one has. That ring is different. If you haven't seen it, check it out here! I don't need a Tiffany's box, or a Harry box (sad face)...I just want something unique that my husband-to-be put thought and effort into designing. I don't think that's too much to ask for! I mean...it is forever! But I'm guessing forever, for me, won't happen for another five or so years in the future. Who knows! ;)
Off of the sappy note. I have a super long day tomorrow--I work both jobs! This week is going to be one crazy week! Oh well, it will at least be fun! I need to get to bed. I'm tired and need my rest!
Note to self: Don't have one today. Don't feel like writing one. Maybe it could be...Happy Monday! Start your week off with a bang! Do something out of the ordinary! Surprise someone! Sing someone a song! Who cares!? Just be spontaneous and different this week! I dare you! ;) Do something for someone that will make you feel good! When I make someone else smile, it makes me feel fantastic on the inside! It makes my day! Do the same! I promise you, you will feel great!
Iowa...good luck with all of your snow! Be safe!
Day 156
February 6, 2010
I am the biggest procrastinator today! I don't have to be to work until five, so I just kind of loaf around this morning. The wind is howling outside my glass sliding door, making it seem like it's traitorous outside! I wait until the very last minute to leave because I hate the thought of walking in such cold weather! When I get to work, the heat isn't really working. My nose is frozen, I can't feel my fingers, and the hair on my arm is standing straight up! So, me and the other hostess take turns going back into the kitchen to warm up!
Work definitely proves to be interesting. I tell ya' what. Nothing exciting happens in your life, until you least expect it! I expected tonight to be boring, for fear I wouldn't have anything to write about. But oh no! You can thank "The Desperate Housewives of New Jersey" wannabe's for this! A group of 17 comes in for a gentlemen's 45th birthday. Let's just say, they were having a really good time, before they came in! The women walk in, where the only real thing on them, may have been their Tiffany's.
(P.S. This is the engagement ring I like. Of course girls look at this stuff! It's fun! Check it out! Don't freak out over the price! In my opinion, this is a gift that lasts forever! It's a great investment! Because with me, honey, it is forever! You're stuck with me! ;) I would be okay with it not being from Tiffany's. I actually prefer it to NOT be from there. Too cliche! If I pop open a Harry Winston box, forget about it! I'm ALL yours! ;) )
Anyways...
Our manager tells them we cannot serve them any alcohol. The reataurant is liable for them when they leave. Smart move on her part. They get mad! Oh man, do they get mad! I stand up front, so I have no idea what's going on. The birthday boy starts walking out and I say, "Hey, are you coming back?" I'm completely kidding with him because I really thought he was going outside to smoke or something! He mumbles something and walks out. His wife follows a bit later, crying! I figured they got in a fight.
Then, the other people slowly start floating up front. I get really nervous because they are complaining something fierce. I don't want them to say anything to me! What am I going to say? So, I just stand there, staring at the computer, hoping they will hurry and go away!
Okay, I'm sorry, but when you show up, three sheets to the wind, do you really expect us to serve you more alcohol? Not only are you literally yelling in our dining room, but you are being rude to everyone.
So, there is one lady left. Ms. Cheetah print, fur coat says to me in her cocky attitude, "Can you explain to me what just happened?"
Me: "Well, I don't know."
Cheetah: "Well, your witch of a hostess just kicked us out. She said she couldn't serve us because we're drunk. We're not drunk. And I'm a big wig at New York Magazine."
Me: "Well, ma'am, I do know that one guest couldn't even walk by himself when he came into the restaurant. He had to be held up by two of his friends."
Cheetah: "What if he has an illness? She just discriminated against him."
Me: "Does he have an illness?"
Cheetah: "Yea"
Me: "Really? Because when he left, he was walking just fine by himself. He didn't need the help of his buddies, so I don't think that's the issue." You're really going to pull the discrimination card? Please.
On the upside, the Super Bowl is tomorrow! I was stumped on what to bring to the pot luck, so I asked the chef! He puts together a bunch of herbs and spices for me and tells me to just add sour cream! He's so sweet! It's going to be so good! Who are you rooting for? I'm going for the Saints, all the way! I'm actually more excited for the commercials. Bud and Bud Light always have the best commercials! Hopefully they hold up to their reputation this year! Three million for an advertisement--you'd hope they would!
Note to self: Randomly read your horoscope. Even though, most people think they're more of a coincidental type of thing, it's still fun! My grandma reads mine to me today because it's all too perfect!
"Some people have a hard time letting the wind carry them where it will. That's not your challenge. It's way harder for you to stay in one place for any duration. You're in luck. You'll be asked (and maybe paid) to wander."
Crazy! All I can think of is...drum roll, please...Florida!?!?!?! Maybe? Is a job offer coming my way? Ooohhh...I don't know, but hopefully this is true because I can't wait to find out!!! ;)
Also, go to a psychic once in your life! It's so much fun! I've been to two! It's so funny how you take what they say and twist it into your own reality! I do believe some things they say are true. Both said I will be wealthy someday. Gotta love that! One said I'm going to write a book! Awesome! Both said I'll only be married once, with two children--one boy and one girl! Perfect! Just what I want! They both said other things, but it's weird how both psychics told me things most wouldn't assume about me.
Psychic one told me I need to drink green tea because it will help me with a health issue I have. Weird! Who knows about that?? This is the same psychic who told my friend that she is a twin and that someday, she'll have twins! Crazy!
Psychic two told me and I quote, "You cry too much over..." She's talking about a certain situation. No way do you know this! No one would EVER guess that! It's nuts! She also said other things that ended up being true. She is one insightful lady!!! I want to go back and talk to her now!!! ;)
I was looking online for things to do for my friend's bachelorette party and apparently, there is a lady in NYC that's a psychic, who does readings for bachelorette parties! Why on earth would you want to go to one of these ladies pre-wedding? No way! I would be petrified she would tell me something awful--like my fiance likes men, or my bridesmaid is going to run away with him, or something crazy like this! ;) I don't recommend it.
Have fun with your Super Bowl festivities! Whatever they may be! GO SAINTS!!! ;)
