Day 197 - Day 199
March 19 - March 21, 2010
What can I say about this weekend? Just that it was exciting, fun, dramatic, and interesting all wrapped into one! I tell ya' what! The beautiful weather does things to people! It was so great walking around seeing the tables sitting outside on the patios, people flooding the streets, and chatter and busy, busy, busy everywhere!
Friday: The most interesting day of the weekend! I go to Better Homes and work, then I go to an appointment. Back story: I was talking to a friend of mine from work about moving, life, etc., etc. She was telling she went and saw this guy. He's a psychic and a medium. Now I know what some of you are thinking...this is a joke! No. It wasn't at all! He doesn't advertise. Strictly by word of mouth, so I know he's ligit. And some of the stuff she told me, he told her, was insane! So, I went.
Can I just tell you something? He was amazing! I took notes! You're wondering what he said, right? Here goes!:
I walked in the room and sat down. He sat down and closed his eyes. He slowly looked up and the first thing he said was, "I see two men in your life. You know one of them. He's around 5'11", with dark brown hair and his name starts with a J. He's in banking. Do you know who this is?"
Me: "Yes."
Him: "He thinks about you all the time. He dreams about you quite frequently."
Me: "Hmm...I guess that's why I get a phone call from him once in a blue moon!"
It's my high school sweetheart! He's around that height, with dark hair, his name's Jason, and he's an accountant! Crazy, right?!?
Him: "I see an engagement coming soon with a woman in your family."
Me: "My cousin just got engaged." (I consider my cousin's fiancee family by now)
Him: "Okay, it must be her."
Me: "No, my cousin is a man."
Him: "Oh no! Then it's not him."
Me: "Well, I'm the only other girl in the family on both sides, so you must be talking about me."
Him: "Okay, well I see it coming. You won't be single for long."
Him: "I see Italian. I see Jewish. Someone tall, with dark hair. You don't know him."
Boca Raton's population is 75% Jewish. Sweet.
Him: "I keep seeing healthcare."
Me: "Well, my ex is a doctor."
Him: "Was there another doctor?"
Me: "Yes, the boy I dated after my ex was a doctor."
Him: "There's going to be another one."
No more doctors!!!!! =) Just kidding! He told me this "trend" is going to continue.
Him: "I see you moving to two or three different cities, but settling in one place really soon."
Me: "Well, in the last nine months or so, I've moved to three different places."
Him: "Okay, well, you're going to be settling in one place very soon."
YES!
Him: "I see a baby."
Me: "Uh...mine?!"
Him: "Yes. Not anytime soon. But I keep seeing the number two. I don't know if that means two months or two years. But in the next three to five years, you will be married with a baby."
Me: "Okay."
Him: "I see temporary work."
Me: "I'm in an internship right now."
Him: "Okay. I just want to let you know, you're going to be okay with money."
Him: "Have you ever worked in politics?"
Me: "Yes."
Him: "You're going to get an opportunity to work in politics again."
Him: "Are you a writer?"
Me: "Yes."
Him: "I see you working in the healthcare field, writing for a healthcare company, or pharmaceutical company."
Him: "I'm seeing television cameras. I don't know if you're going to be on tv, or working for tv, but I keep seeing them."
He told me to be open to all industries and he said I have the world in the palm of my hands. It's going to ultimately be up to me on what I do with it! He said, "You're in the driver's seat. You're going to be able to chose what you want to do. Not like most people."
Him: "Are you dating anyone?"
Me: "No one in particular."
Him: "I'm seeing someone 5'10" with longer, dark hair."
Me: "I just met someone like that a day ago."
Him: "Make sure you and him are on the same page."
I have no idea what he meant by this, but I thought it was weird that he knew what he looked like.
Him: "Your mother? She worries about you way too much!" Haha! She totally does!
Him: "You have a brother?"
Me: "Yes."
Him: "I see him wearing a tie. If he's not in college now, he will go and he will do very well. He misses you a ton!" Ahh! Of course he does! ;)
Him: "Does your dad own his own business?"
Me: "No."
Him: "Does he manage?"
Me: "Yes."
Him: "Tell your dad his job is kosher and isn't going anywhere."
He told me about health problems within my family from back in the day, when I wasn't even alive, to health problems now with my uncle!
Him: "I'm getting a sister figure from your mother's side."
Me: "I don't have a sister."
Him: "Did your mom have a miscarriage?"
Me: "No. I have a cousin that passed away when she was younger."
Him: "Were you guys close?"
Me: "Yea."
Him: "She wants me to tell you she just stopped in to say hi. Tell the family she's okay and she sends her love. She keeps telling me about a boat. Did she like the water?"
Me: "Yes."
Him: "Do you know what the boat means?"
Me: "Yea. The last family vacation we went on with her, before she passed, her and my dad rode this boat ride about 15 times in a row! She loved it!"
Him: "She wants me to tell you about the boat, so you know it's her."
Him: "I'm getting a woman on your mother's side and I'm seeing the letter "S." The woman keeps rubbing her chest, like she had heart problems. Do you know who I'm talking about?"
Me: "Yea. It's my great-grandma, Gracie. Her last name is Shephard and she died of a heart attack."
Him: "She wants me to tell you hi and you need to tell the family she sends her love."
Him: "You have two trips coming real soon."
I'm coming back to Iowa twice in April for my best friend's wedding! Crazy!
Him: "Do you want to go to Europe? Or have you been?"
Me: "I've been, but I'd love to go back."
Him: "You're going to go again. I don't know if it's this year, or next, but you're going. And you're going to have the time of your life!"
Him: "You have a lot of good things coming in your life. It's just a matter of time."
How cool is this?!?! I know some of it sounds generic, but he knew too much about my past for me to generalize the statements he said to me! It was pretty cool. Then, when I left, he handed me his card and said, "I want you to call me in a year and tell me where your life is at." He's amazing and so nice!!! If anyone wants his number, he does over the phone! I already have my friend, Dyanna, calling him! ;)
Friday night: Went to a ballet! So amazing! It was a ballet company from Spain and they were debuting for the first time in the United States. My friend's, friend was a soloist. I can't even tell you how amazing this man was!!! Phenomenal! The costumes were beautiful, the dancing was spectacular, and the music was fabulous! Bravo! Bravo! Then it was off for Thai food to Jasmine! I've never had it, but let me tell you! It was great!! I had coconut rice, with chicken, pineapple, and veggies! So good!!! It was "Upper East Side" night for us! I was a little disappointed in the UES. With all of the "glitz and glamour" that go along with it, I wasn't impressed. It looks like my neighborhood, but cost of living is twice the price.
Saturday: I worked. Then we went out for Jen's going away party in Gramercy Park. We went to The Globe. It was really fun! They played excellent music! As you know, Jen is Asian. I'm pretty sure I was the tallest person in the WHOLE entire bar. That even includes white dudes. Okay, there were three other men that were taller than me. One was dancing with himself all night long, one was hott, and the other was not. Guess which one hit on me? The one dancing with himself! Oh yes! One point for Ashley! Way to go, sister! You snag the loser! Go figure! ;) There was a minor incident with boyfriend/girlfriend drama. So, everyone left and went home.
Sunday: Beautiful day outside! I got a lot done with packing! Then I went and got Kara a Crumbs cupcake and took it to work to make her feel better about her boy drama. I got the "Elvis," which is a banana cupcake with vanilla and peanut butter icing. Also, a vanilla cupcake with a buttercream filling, cream cheese frosting, sprinkles, and white chocolate. Needless to say, we both gained about five pounds sharing the cupcakes. The rest of the evening will be dedicated to last minute packing.
Sorry the post is so long, but I had so much fun information to share with you! Hope you had a great weekend!
Note to self: With only one week left before the move, don't think about leaving. Think about spending quality time with the wonderful friends you have made! And there is no sense in crying, because the bestie you made out here is going home to Orlando in April, so you will see her soon!!! Maybe the possibility of crying will be thrown out the window!!! One can only hope!

Day 156
February 6, 2010
I am the biggest procrastinator today! I don't have to be to work until five, so I just kind of loaf around this morning. The wind is howling outside my glass sliding door, making it seem like it's traitorous outside! I wait until the very last minute to leave because I hate the thought of walking in such cold weather! When I get to work, the heat isn't really working. My nose is frozen, I can't feel my fingers, and the hair on my arm is standing straight up! So, me and the other hostess take turns going back into the kitchen to warm up!
Work definitely proves to be interesting. I tell ya' what. Nothing exciting happens in your life, until you least expect it! I expected tonight to be boring, for fear I wouldn't have anything to write about. But oh no! You can thank "The Desperate Housewives of New Jersey" wannabe's for this! A group of 17 comes in for a gentlemen's 45th birthday. Let's just say, they were having a really good time, before they came in! The women walk in, where the only real thing on them, may have been their Tiffany's.
(P.S. This is the engagement ring I like. Of course girls look at this stuff! It's fun! Check it out! Don't freak out over the price! In my opinion, this is a gift that lasts forever! It's a great investment! Because with me, honey, it is forever! You're stuck with me! ;) I would be okay with it not being from Tiffany's. I actually prefer it to NOT be from there. Too cliche! If I pop open a Harry Winston box, forget about it! I'm ALL yours! ;) )
Anyways...
Our manager tells them we cannot serve them any alcohol. The reataurant is liable for them when they leave. Smart move on her part. They get mad! Oh man, do they get mad! I stand up front, so I have no idea what's going on. The birthday boy starts walking out and I say, "Hey, are you coming back?" I'm completely kidding with him because I really thought he was going outside to smoke or something! He mumbles something and walks out. His wife follows a bit later, crying! I figured they got in a fight.
Then, the other people slowly start floating up front. I get really nervous because they are complaining something fierce. I don't want them to say anything to me! What am I going to say? So, I just stand there, staring at the computer, hoping they will hurry and go away!
Okay, I'm sorry, but when you show up, three sheets to the wind, do you really expect us to serve you more alcohol? Not only are you literally yelling in our dining room, but you are being rude to everyone.
So, there is one lady left. Ms. Cheetah print, fur coat says to me in her cocky attitude, "Can you explain to me what just happened?"
Me: "Well, I don't know."
Cheetah: "Well, your witch of a hostess just kicked us out. She said she couldn't serve us because we're drunk. We're not drunk. And I'm a big wig at New York Magazine."
Me: "Well, ma'am, I do know that one guest couldn't even walk by himself when he came into the restaurant. He had to be held up by two of his friends."
Cheetah: "What if he has an illness? She just discriminated against him."
Me: "Does he have an illness?"
Cheetah: "Yea"
Me: "Really? Because when he left, he was walking just fine by himself. He didn't need the help of his buddies, so I don't think that's the issue." You're really going to pull the discrimination card? Please.
On the upside, the Super Bowl is tomorrow! I was stumped on what to bring to the pot luck, so I asked the chef! He puts together a bunch of herbs and spices for me and tells me to just add sour cream! He's so sweet! It's going to be so good! Who are you rooting for? I'm going for the Saints, all the way! I'm actually more excited for the commercials. Bud and Bud Light always have the best commercials! Hopefully they hold up to their reputation this year! Three million for an advertisement--you'd hope they would!
Note to self: Randomly read your horoscope. Even though, most people think they're more of a coincidental type of thing, it's still fun! My grandma reads mine to me today because it's all too perfect!
"Some people have a hard time letting the wind carry them where it will. That's not your challenge. It's way harder for you to stay in one place for any duration. You're in luck. You'll be asked (and maybe paid) to wander."
Crazy! All I can think of is...drum roll, please...Florida!?!?!?! Maybe? Is a job offer coming my way? Ooohhh...I don't know, but hopefully this is true because I can't wait to find out!!! ;)
Also, go to a psychic once in your life! It's so much fun! I've been to two! It's so funny how you take what they say and twist it into your own reality! I do believe some things they say are true. Both said I will be wealthy someday. Gotta love that! One said I'm going to write a book! Awesome! Both said I'll only be married once, with two children--one boy and one girl! Perfect! Just what I want! They both said other things, but it's weird how both psychics told me things most wouldn't assume about me.
Psychic one told me I need to drink green tea because it will help me with a health issue I have. Weird! Who knows about that?? This is the same psychic who told my friend that she is a twin and that someday, she'll have twins! Crazy!
Psychic two told me and I quote, "You cry too much over..." She's talking about a certain situation. No way do you know this! No one would EVER guess that! It's nuts! She also said other things that ended up being true. She is one insightful lady!!! I want to go back and talk to her now!!! ;)
I was looking online for things to do for my friend's bachelorette party and apparently, there is a lady in NYC that's a psychic, who does readings for bachelorette parties! Why on earth would you want to go to one of these ladies pre-wedding? No way! I would be petrified she would tell me something awful--like my fiance likes men, or my bridesmaid is going to run away with him, or something crazy like this! ;) I don't recommend it.
Have fun with your Super Bowl festivities! Whatever they may be! GO SAINTS!!! ;)
