Day 108 - Day 109

December 21 - December 22

Do you ever wonder how people's mornings start off? I do. When I leave my apartment after I've been really crying all morning, I look at people and think, I wonder how their morning's going? I wonder about the fashionable, older woman walking down the street--did she have a bad morning? Or what about the couple holding hands? Did they have a hot and steamy morning? =) Or what about the two angry looking women at Magnolia Bakery? I can already answer that question for you. It's so interesting because every one is so different, yet we all have the same daily routine. Wake up, go to work, eat lunch, work some more, have dinner, go home, go to sleep.

So, today starts off not so great. Sallie Mae really knows how to ruin a day! I hate them! And I'm really stressed out that I'm going to get stuck in Chicago O'Hare airport on Christmas Day! I'm going to spend it with a bunch of random strangers at the bar! Not really what I want to do! So, please keep your fingers crossed that I make it home!

Better Homes & Garden is great today! I got my editor's Papyrus cards, which are the best cards ever made, and some Magnolia Cupcakes! They were so cute! They were decorated with Christmas candies and red and green frosting. They are the best cupcakes ever! And they got me a gift! It was so sweet of them and the gift was amazing! I got a bracelet, a little clutch, and some cards that had "xoxo" on them. Plus, a really sweet card! It made my day!

Then, I go to my other job. I just want to start off by saying that I cannot wait to come home and get a break from this city! It has been four months of an emotional roller coaster and I need to get away. I know I have tons of support from back home, but it's different not having anyone here with you. So, I've dealt with all of this negative, positive, good, and bad energy by myself. It's emotionally and physically draining. I have been so on edge and just so snippy. I need some Midwestern hospitality...stat!

So, I'm working and taking people to their tables when a server comes up to me and lets me have it. He is such a dick and being so serious about criticizing me on how I'm doing my job. As I walk away he says, "Ash...I'm just kidding." My response, "Patrick, I don't find this funny and you are going to make my cry. I'm not even kidding." So, what do I do? I go up front, with tears in my eyes, and tell Morgan, "I'll be back. I just need a minute." I go into the coat room and start to cry. I am such a baby! This moment right here tells me I definitely need a break! I never just randomly cry like this; I'm usually pretty strong, so this is just verification to me. He felt really bad, but I wasn't mad at him. I couldn't be--he was kidding! We joked around later and everything was okay.

I start nodding off at the counter because I am so exhausted--in more than one way! I finally get to go home at 11:00! When I get home, I start writing my blog and about 30 minutes later, I wake up, with my hands on the keyboard. I fell asleep while typing! So, I crawled into bed and woke up in the same position I went to sleep in!

So, after an exhausting day, everything was great and I'm ready for a new day!

Note to self: When you're in a snippy mode, still try and be nice to people. You'll regret it later if you're not nice. It's not their fault you're having a bad day or are exhausted. Maybe they're having a bad day too! And I bet they're probably just as tired as you are! If they do something to irritate you, walk away. Don't say anything, just smile and turn around to walk away. It's the logical thing to do. It's not worth it to make up for it later. Plus, who wants to apologize and admit you did something wrong? Not me! So, just be pleasant and avoid any confrontation that isn't necessary to take place from the get go!

Read the post below! It's about my friend, Caitlin, and mine's trip from last weekend! We had so much fun! Enjoy!
