Day 207

March 29, 2010

Today is the start of a new chapter for the rest of my life! Hello, Florida! Welcome home! Do you like my new background? I found it to be very appropriate for my new, permanent location in life! Let's just say today was one of the longest days of my life! But, obviously way worth it!

I wake up at 5:00 a.m. and get on the airport shuttle at 6:15a.m. I get to the JetBlue (the best airline in the world) and the lines are horrendous! But I made it through in plenty of time! I was completely spacey this morning. I thought I would be cost effective and buy a Diet Coke before I left for the airport. Little did I forget that you aren't allowed to take it through security. Needless to say, I got snipped at! You know how friendly airport workers can be! Especially that early in the morning! I think she forgot her coffee! ;)

On the shuttle ride over, the driver was in a bit of a rush. I felt like I was a bobble head, on crack, riding a roller coaster! I was all over the back seat of that van! Then, his seat belt light kept beeping the whole way there. I counted one of the times...70 beeps in a row! Buckle up for safety, sir! The weirdo in the middle seat, sat really close next to a foreign girl, so he could follow the law! I think you should do the same! That much noise, that early, is not okay with me! ;)

My plane is suppose to leave at 9:00 a.m. I see the plane is delayed for 20 minutes, then another 20, then an hour, then 30 more minutes. We leave JFK around 11:45/noon-ish! Crazy! We get to North Carolina, where the plane is suppose to leave at 1:50. They say it's delayed for 30 minutes. Literally, three and a half hours later! We leave! We're suppose to arrive in Ft. Lauderdale at 7:00 p.m., but right when we're getting ready to land, the pilot comes on and says there's something on the runway, so we circle the ocean 50 times, for 30 minutes before landing! Then, we had to wait about 20 minutes for our luggage, I had to take a shuttle to get my car, the GPS didn't work, but I'M HERE! YAY!!!

I know what you're thinking...she had to be flipping out! Surprisingly, I did not say ONE negative thing. I was completely unlike myself today! I don't know what came over me, but I was calm, rational, and completely zen about it all! I loved it! I had no worries in the world! I was just thinking, whatever! I don't care! I'll get there eventually! Okay, who am I? Excuse me...knock, knock! Who's there? I don't know, because it's not Ashley Toncar! ;) I think I'm just so happy and content with the path my life has taken me, that for once in my life, I don't have a reason to be uptight and nervous! It's such a great feeling!

When I was sitting on the plane, I was thinking to myself, I've never felt this way before. EVER! Is this a bad thing that I'm so lax and just 'whatever' about it all? Then, I realized, no! It's a good thing! To just be so comfortable with a situation is fantastic! When I landed, I felt like I do when I get back to Iowa. I feel like I'm at home. It's the weirdest feeling, but I'm in love! Life has just been so good to me, and within all of the craziness and nerve-racking episodes, I'm finally truly happy with everything! I think the fact that I'm so tired has something to do with it too. But it's great!

Tonight is going to be lax because I have an important meeting tomorrow morning! So, I ordered pizza and am just relaxing. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulders! It's so fantastic!

Note to self: I've been thinking a lot the last few days about this. Honest to God, without the help of my family, I wouldn't be where I was today. I just want to say, thank you! Family is the most important thing anyone could have, and I have the best family, (in my eyes), anyone could ever ask for! You have been nothing but supportive, open-minded, and helpful in areas where I needed it most. There's a lot of things I could not have done without your help! Everywhere I went, while moving my boxes, people asked what I was going to do with moving. I would say, "Oh my parents are going to drive my stuff to me." One hundred percent, hands down, every single person said, "Those are some parents! You are quite lucky!" You bet they are!

But it's also my grandma, who I call at 4:00 a.m., running down the street, or asking my doorman on a date, or whatever other crazy things I chose to do while coming home from the bars! Most grandmas aren't that cool! ;) And my brother. I can turn to him for anything! He's like a safe. He doesn't repeat anything! And he always knows what to say. A lot of people don't have a close relationship with their siblings. It's important! He's one of my best friends. He's such a great and caring person, and I'm lucky to have such a talented and sweet man, I call my brother.

And my Aunt Tammy. We always have fantastic conversations. Whenever I'm feeling down about certain situations, she's there to pick me up! And what a supporter! We're trying to talk mom and grandma into getting tattoos! It's going to be a family bonding thing. How's it going? We're still working on it! ;) So, if you see my grandma or mother, tell them they should do it! I think grandma should get hers on her booby! Hehe! Hoochie mama! ;) Tammy and I laugh about stuff like this, all the time!

Again, family is the most important element anyone can have in their life. Yes, they get irritating. And yes, you probably snap at them, just as much as I do. But at the end of the day, they're all you've got. So, you better appreciate while you're still lucky enough to have it. I know I don't say it enough, but family...thank you! Thank you! Thank you! From the bottom of my heart. I know I can be difficult, crazy, confusing, exciting, and gutsy. But it's these qualities that are brought out best when I'm around you guys! You keep me positive and in tune with reality. You stick with me when I need you most.

I can't wait for all of you to come and visit me! It's going to be so much fun! Mom, no attached skirts or shorts to your one-piece. Try a nice sarong! Dad and Brett, surf lessons are a must! Tammy, of course you know we're going to the flea market! Grandma, drinks are on me! ;) Tyler, I will NOT be riding a motor scooter with you! I don't care what you say! I'll take pictures as you cruise down the streets of Boca! ;)

Got enough sappy for today?? =) Okay, I'm all done! Have a happy Tuesday! ;) I'm watching CSI: Miami to welcome myself to Florida! Thank God I won't be living there. I'm more scared of Miami than I am New York City! That would have been no good! A blonde girl in the middle of Little Havana? Forget it. I wouldn't last! I barely made it through Harlem! ;) Goodnight!
