Day 25

October 1, 2009

Wow! October? Really? Time flies when you're having fun! It is another exciting day at Joonbug today! My co-worker took me around Soho all day again for Street Style. It's so cool down there--I love it! Vintage-style, Bohemian stores line the cobblestone streets with restaurants dedicated to Mac 'n Cheese, wine, cupcakes, etc.

I have always loved vintage clothing, but was always cautious of wearing them for fear of it looking more worn down than trendy. Soho's a good place to seg-way into this style. The stores are vintage, but with modern flairs. Prairie plaids combined with pleats, mixed with fringe, and feminine hemlines and flow. If I could only afford the $150 shirtdress. I think I might take the ideas from these stores and go to actual vintage thrift stores and try to find the same thing for a third of the cost! =)

My co-worker knows all the best shopping and eateries in the area. For lunch, we go to an authentic Chinese restaurant. YUM! For $4.50, they give you a tray and you go through a buffet-style line, in which they fill your tray with four or five different entrees, plus rice! It surpasses Panda Express Chinese mall food any day!

Maybe it's just me, but kid's on a leash. Come on, now! I think this is the most ridiculous invention of all time! You walk a dog...not your child. I don't care if they do look like monkeys and bears--your child just looks dumb. Even more so when they're trying to walk away and you keep yanking back on the reigns, causing the child to jolt backwards. Ridiculous!

Someone asks me where they can find a corndog! Ha! In NYC? I would love to know! Come to Iowa--it's one of our major food groups! ;)

I read this story today a co-worker of mine found! The Morning After. It is hysterical! It makes me reminisce back to my freshman year of college; Ft. Myers Beach, FL 2004. We were on a boat, in the sun, with unlimited jungle juice. Most know the effects of sun and liquor together--the motion of the ocean causes the liquor to flow through your bloodstream rather quickly. There are about five or six boats tied together, people partying everywhere, and I thought it would be a good idea to boat hop. Problem: I didn't make it. Instead, I slip and fall in between the boats, into the Gulf of Mexico. Not one of my finer moments in life. But this story, even better!

Note to self: Is it bad when you laugh at other people's bad days? Is it okay to laugh at the co-worker--who some like to call "Baby Shrek"-- when he comes in, just mopey as all get out, bitching about his bad week; then he goes to zip up his sweatshirt and the zipper breaks? The gasp of air and pinched together lips reaction is classic, but pretty damn funny. Or laugh at the co-worker who signed a lease at an apartment, only to find handfuls of problems, then comes into work where he has to wear a trench coat that makes him look like the terminator? When he says, "Yes, this is really happening. I just want to shoot myself," can you laugh? Because the sad look in his eyes, although you feel for him, you just want to laugh. Everyone has those days where, "When it rains, it pours." Maybe your laughter makes them feel a little better.
