Sunshine and 75 degrees cannot make for a more perfect Sunday. Especially on a day where I do not have to work! I have the whole day to do whatever I want. Hmm...a free day? I don't remember what this feels like! I guess I can finish my "to-do" list.
First, I wake up at 11 a.m.! It's amazing to sleep in! Here is my day--name this movie: “Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.” Except the fact that it's Sunday, not Saturday! (Old School is the movie, by the way. Classic!)
I go to the Home Depot for paint for my apartment. I don't know what color to paint my walls. The solution: buy whatever bright color is on sale. Seems easy enough. So, I do. Five bucks for a gallon and my walls look phenomenal! Never painted before, so I ran into a few obstacles. Let's just say, I will not make a profession out of painting. I almost fired myself!
On my long jaunt to the H.D., I pass a Turkish festival. It's so unique! I buy something that cannot be disclosed at this time! I also walk past a group of people waiting for the Dali Lama. The Dali Lama?! Awesome! Count me in! I'm pretty sure I was the ONLY white person in the crowd! I got some funny stares, and then realized that if anything were to go down, I would either be the first person to get shot, or I would be the first person they thought did the shooting. No, thanks! My pasty-skin butt is getting out of there fast!
Lugging paint from W. 23rd St. and 6th Ave. all the way to W. 43rd St. and 11th Ave. sucks so bad! I may have permanent indents in my arms from the paint can and other bags from my day of Clearance shopping. Damn sale signs! They get me every time! I need a break. What a better place than a stand selling 99-cent pizza?! They're open 24 hours and is closely located to my apartment! Fantastic! Oh, and it tastes good too! What NYC pizza doesn't? I've come to find--they all do!
So, yes, I joined a dating website yesterday. I know, I know. Again, don't judge. A friend from work talked me into it. Justification: it's a good way to get out and try different places--for free nonetheless! Let me tell you, it is absolutely hysterical!!!! These are my exact words to my friend after signing up, “Just an FYI...the only visitors I seem to be getting on the website you said to sign up for are the creepy lumberjacks, 21-year-old college brats, or weirdo’s that like to take pictures with their animals! WTF?!? =)” I have not stopped laughing out loud since I created my account!!
You should read these people's profiles. They are so funny! And so in depth! Geeze! I didn't realize when they asked you what movies and music you like, you're supposed to write two pages on your favorite artists and movies. Who's going to read that? Not me! I don't care that much! Just take me out to a cool bar or coffee shop and let's call it a day! =) And I'm sorry, but when a guy asks for your name so he can look you up on Facebook--I don't think so, pal. Too bad you won't find an Ashley Burke with my picture. "I don't know why you can't find me. Facebook must be broken or something." Ha! Dummy!
I talk to Dyanna and Kristi today. Both girls are so damn funny! Kristi and I always play McDonald's Monopoly. Well, it starts tomorrow and we already have our game plan! We have great odds of winning because I live here and she lives in Iowa. It's gonna happen--we will win! She's already scouted it out on the Internet tonight! Too funny! Dyanna--let's face it is hilarious! Her sarcasm makes all my problems seem miniscule. I can't wait for another "eyes wide shut" dancing-night-out with her! Inside joke, but makes us die every time we talk about it!
Note to self: When you're a virgin painter, make sure to get detailed instructions. A four-inch, sponge roller will NOT coat your walls properly. Instead, it absorbs the paint, causing your wall to look like you did it with paint-by-numbers. A heads up on this would have been helpful. Also, when your dad tells you AFTER you paint your wall not to paint it too thick, just keep your mouth closed. This information would have been useful about two hours prior, but that's okay. I'll fix it! Don't worry about my two jobs--I have all the time in the world to re-paint my walls! =) Be detail-oriented BEFORE you start a project, not after. By the time you realize what you should have done, it's too late. Stop and think.
