Day 68, 69, 70

November 13-15, 2009

So, my weekend. Pretty much consisted of work. Brett comes Friday, so I figure I need to take it easy, considering when he gets here, it's going to be one constant flow of craziness, meets out of control, meets the Toncar's take over NYC! And I need to save my money. However, my list of activities is going to keep us busy from sun up to sun down. He'll probably be excited to go home, so he can actually rest!

The best part of my weekend...being able to see professional NFL players! Dan Marino walks into The Capital Grille Saturday, along with Rodney Harrison, Tony Dungee, and many retired Jets players. So cool! I'm pretty sure I looped around Dan Marino at the bar every five minutes. I couldn't help it! He's huge! Okay, so I admit, I didn't know who these people were until they were pointed out to me. Except Dan Marino, of course! I know who he is!

And I may or may not be dubbed the coolest sister in America! Not only have I helped my brother out during all of his crazy antics in his life, but today, I must admit, I did well. The talent coordinator from Sports New York talked to me and is letting my brother and I tour the broadcasting studio and stand in on a live sports broadcast! How cool is that?!? He freaked out when I told him! He's going to be like a kid in a candy store! I just hope someone really fascinating is there and hopefully he can meet him!

Oh yeah, and I'm taking him into our restaurant for dinner Saturday, so he can see Dan Marino. Marino comes in every Saturday, and he's Brett's idol, so we're going to be stalkers.

I got off work late on Saturday and spent three hours of my life, until 2:30 a.m., on the phone with some guy I met, who turns out to be a complete weirdo. Shocked?! Yeah, me either! I guess I should have got the hint since he is 35. I don't care about your money. I don't care about your many travels to Italy. Nor do I care about your high school sweetheart who broke your heart. You have been out of high school since the beginning of time! I think you may need to get over it! Why do I get men who are still hung up on past relationships? Do I look like Oprah? I must. Well, I'm tired of trying to fix the problem. Clearly, if you're not over it now Marcosaurus, you probably never will be. My diagnosis: get a life. =)

Work is slow today, but the perk? Magnolia Bakery cupcakes! Oh man! They are so good! I've heard about these things from absolutely everyone! So, today, our manager, who is awesome, let my friend Kara and I run and get them. And we literally ran down 6th Ave. Check out their website! Everything there is delicious. You walk in and the smell of sugar, vanilla, chocolate, and every other imaginable sweet fills your nostrils with the sweet scent of magnificence! I devour my red velvet cupcake with whipped cream cheese frosting in about a minute.

Note to self: Use your home town roots to your advantage! I think it benefits being from Iowa. I really believe people think we live and grew up in a bubble and feel sorry for us, so they give us privileges and opportunities others may not have. Don't worry, I use it to my advantage! A lot! My blonde hair, blue eyes, and Midwestern accent actually gets me a lot of perks and a lot of places, meeting really cool people! You have to do what you have to do! =)
