Day 44

October 20, 2009

I have another interview today. Good news: I get the job! Yay! I will be writing short bios on hedge fund owners, CEOs, CFOs, etc. of companies for investor purposes. And, after a while, I can work from home! How awesome is that? This allows me to do other side jobs, giving me more money! "Show me the money!" is now my new motto in life! I need the green!

My biggest investment of the day: Theraflu Severe Cold & Cough. This cold is seriously getting to me--I haven't slept in three days! So, naturally, I get the nighttime kind. The pharmacist says, "You do know this is the nighttime version and will make you very drousy." I say, "Yes, I do." Knock me out, sister! I need to get better! It's 2:30 p.m., the phone's going off, and I don't plan on waking up until tomorrow!

On my way home, I stop by one of my favorite places, Good 'n Plenty. A nice, home cooked meal is the ticket today! I'm tell you, it's amazing food! And you can't forget about the adorable Halloween-themed cookie! They are like the ones you can get at Highland Park Bakery! You know, the best kind of cookie on the planet! ;)

When I come home, I find that my door is unlocked. Weird, I think to myself. Did someone break in? Maybe it's the delivery guy from the other night. Well, it sure as hell looks like someone broke in! My clothes are scattered everywhere, jewelry knocked on the floor, and the dishes on my counter. Then I realize, oh wait, this is how it looked before I left this morning! ;) Maintenance came through and did their monthly inspections. They really need to warn you before they do this, so I can pick up the place. It looks like a small tornado whipped through it last night! Needless to say, I have a bit of a problem picking out my outfit for the day!

So, I'm finally settled in, ready to sleep. I find it terrible that people revolve their lives around their cell phone. I am sadly one of those culprits. Even when I take the nighttime cold medicine, that's suppose to knock you out, I still can't sleep. I subconsciously keep thinking about if anyone called about another job offer, or if a friend called, etc. And of course, the one time I turn my phone on silent, is the one time people decide to try and get a hold of me. Never when it's on...just off. So, I have a lot of call and text backs to do.

I feel the medicine is slightly helping. A couple more days and I should be as good as new. However, it gives me a ton of energy! I deep-clean my whole apartment and get all my laundry done in three hours! Go me! The place looks fabulous! Much better than earlier, when I had unexpected visitors.

I'm ready to take more meds and go to bed. I have an early morning tomorrow--7:30 a.m. and Ashley don't really mix well, so I need to go to sleep! Goodnight!

Note to self: A light-weight, fall trench coat is a necessity, and you should buy one. This one from Ann Taylor is cute! It's not cold enough for your winter coat, but it's not warm enough to go without any coat. Wearing a winter coat will make you a hot and sweaty mess by the time you walk 30 minutes to your destination, but your hands will feel like ice when you shake your interviewers hand, if you wear nothing. Think about the investment--every year you tell yourself you need one. This year, maybe you should actually buy one.

Also! When you try and save money by shoving in as many clothes as possible into one dryer, you realize it's a bad idea. Your clothes are still damp. Now, what are you going to do? Next time, be smarter about your laundry. And, please, get a laundry hamper. The brown, cardboard box you carry around is slightly embarrassing and not sanitary for your freshly laundered undies. And about your undies...make sure you are careful when you take them out of the dryer. It's embarrassing when there is a rather handsome man at the dryer next to you and your lacy thongs fall on the floor.
