Day 277 - Day 278

June 5 - June 6, 2010

So, I got to thinking this weekend. What is on my bucket list? A lot of stuff actually, but the main thing is this: to visit every state in the United States. But what would I do in each of these states is the question. So, I compiled my U.S. Bucket List. Some places I found nothing. Others, I found endless amounts of possibilities. The states highlighted in bold are places I've been. Some, I would love to go back. Others, not so much. I Googled things (very quickly), so if you have any suggestions, I am ALL ears! Here is my list:

  1. Alabama: I don't really know of anything cool to do in Alabama.
  2. Alaska: A cruise, of course!
  3. Arizona: The Grand Canyon
  4. Arkansas: I found a really cool tree house resort! Check out here!
  5. California: San Francisco and Napa Valley
  6. Colorado: White Water Rafting!
  7. Connecticut: All of it! Especially Hartford because of my love for Gilmore Girls!
  8. Delaware: It's our nation's 1st state! Just to say I've seen it!
  9. District of Columbia: DC, duh!
  10. Florida: What don't I want to do here? The Keys, Islands of Adventure, ocean kayaking...I'm not picky!
  11. Georgia: Fried chicken at Paula Deen's--and tour some plantations!
  12. Hawaii: Attend a traditional luau and go surfing!
  13. Idaho: Hell's Canyon, hot springs, all the outdoor stuff!
  14. Illinois: Taste of Chicago and a Bear's game
  15. Indiana: Colt's game. What else is there to do?
  16. Iowa: Small town tour! We have to have the BEST small towns ever! I want to see them all!
  17. Kansas: Shop at the massive Von Maur in Overland Park!
  18. Kentucky: The Derby! With a huge hat! ;)
  19. Louisiana: Mardi Gras! Fat Tuesday, here I come!
  20. Maine: Lobster-crawl, all the way!

  23. Michigan: Mackinac Islands
  24. Minnesota: Go camping in a podunk town in the middle of nowhere!
  25. Mississippi: Stay in Jackson. It's the capital, there has to be something to do there!
  26. Missouri: St. Louis! See the arch, eat some BBQ, and go to the nation's largest adult playground!
  27. Montana: Hiking in the Tetons!
  28. Nebraska: Been there. Don't really care to go back!
  29. Nevada: Bachelor/bachelorette weekend getaway! Oh yes! What happens, stays... =)
  30. New Hampshire: Wolfeboro--the oldest summer resort in America!

  36. Ohio: One cool thing about this state: Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Anything else? Not that I know of.
  37. Oklahoma: Been there. Probably saw all there is to see. I even Googled. I tried.
  38. Oregon: A weekend in Silverton! Here!
  39. Pennsylvania: Hike the Poconos and go on a philly cheese steak tour! What a better place than Philly to do so?!

Now go create your bucket list! It's fun seeing what the U.S. has to offer. Why go overseas all the time, when you have beauty right in front of you??
