Day 211

April 2, 2010

I try to relax. Does it work? Nope. Why? Because I have the classic ADD problem that I can't sit still. Do I take medicine? Nope. Why? Because I heard that goes on your record. So, I learn to deal with it! ;)

Today is my day to "relax" and go to the beach. I am the palest person in this town, so I figure I better fix that! Plus, I look better when I'm tan anyway! I don't take suntan lotion with me, because I figure I'm being smart and helping my body not draw UV rays to it. Did it work? Heck no! I look like a tomato! My entire body hurts! I was only out in the sun for an hour and a half and I got cooked! Not good. I don't want skin cancer! But my body always does this. I burn once and then I'll be good for the rest of my life, now! Now that I'm posting up shop down here for the rest of my eternity!

We go to CVS Pharmacy to pick up some cold medicine and aloe vera. Obviously, the aloe vera is for me! Here is my little convo with the sales guy.

Him: "Wow! You got fried!"
Me: "Yeah, I know."
Him: "No, you really got burnt!"
Me: "Yeah...I know."
Him: "Well you need to get this taken care of."
Me: "Yeah, I know. Good thing I'm buying this aloe vera!"
Then I pull out my Bank of America card that has a collage of everything NYC, including the I heart NY logo.
Him: "Ooohhhh, I love New York?"
Me: "Yeah, I actually just moved from there."
Him: "Oooohhhhh, what part?"
Me: "The city."
Him (sarcastically): "Oohh, the city! You mean Manhattan?"
Me: "Same thing."

Just give my stuff, weirdo and I will be on my way! Please don't tell me I'm sunburnt fifteen times! I get it. I look like someone painted me with red paint, all over my body!

The rest of the night was pretty relaxing. Much needed, considering I haven't had a night like this in a while. We went for sushi at Hoshikawa Sushi. In all honesty, it was probably the best sushi I've ever eaten! And tonight was half off rolls! Ha! Fantastic! And I have now mastered the art of the chop stick. I'm so proud of myself. All those "Salmon Mondays" in New York really paid off! ;)

Note to self: When you feel yourself on fire and you start to sweat, that may be a good indication you need to leave the sun! You don't want to look like leather-skin lying close to you; or the wrinkly old lady, sitting in her chair. A nice tan 'glow' will be perfect for you! You live here now! You don't have to take in the sun all at once anymore! Pace yourself! ;)
